Senate Democrats Condemn Dangerous Escalatory Rhetoric from President Trump

PHOENIX – “Senate Democrats strongly condemn President Trump’s unhinged threat suggesting the destruction of an entire Iranian civilization. Words like these put American troops at greater risk and not only endanger the safety and standing of the United States on the global stage but also endangers Americans here at home.

While the United States maintains the strongest military in the world, we are also a nation governed by law, restraint, and shared values. We are a member of an international community that recognizes these threats as war crimes. This is a war most Americans do not  support and do not want. The President knows his words and actions have the potential to carry devastating consequences.

If these threats become action, countless Iranian civilians will lose their lives, the conflict will escalate dramatically, and the United States risks being seen as a nation without moral or ethical grounding.
